Greetings One and All ....
You may have heard the term 'group consciousness'. We use this term in many views, from the smaller group such as a family, work force, group email list, and such, to the larger picture such as a country, a race, a creed, Earth Mother or even as fathomless as the Universe. In this way, clarifying group consciousness can take on different forms depending upon our perception.
This being said, looking at the whole picture from smallest group to largest group and beyond, it is important to note that every piece or group fits into the puzzle of life and that which affects the smaller, also affects the larger. When we see ourselves from the big picture, we recognize that each of us has a part to play in our collective group consciousness -- as a whole.
Many of us have a hard time distinguishing reality and memories early on in our lives. It has been said that the mind does not remember experiences prior to the age of four or so. This is because the act of individualization has not taken place, similar to our animal friends who do not have the substance of memories for this reason. Our animal friends work entirely from the group consciousness level, as did we as humans prior to the point of individualization.
So .. what happens that causes us to alter our perspective and become individuals to embark on a path of singularity?
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe quotes: "Certain defects are necessary for the existence of individuality."
These 'defects' can best be described as the loss of connection with the collective group consciousness from which Soul travels in order to establish its individuality. Once individuality is established, Soul then makes its return to the group collective consciousness by way of life experiences.
Jean-Paul Sartre has said ... "When we say that a man is responsible for himself, we do not only mean that he is responsible for his own individuality, but that he is responsible for all men."
Let's take Sartre's thought a step further in saying that we are responsible for all life - man, woman, child, cat, dog, horse, insect, fish, invertebrates, etc. Each of us, collectively and individually, is responsible for the beings with which we share Earth Mother. Earth Mother is home to many inhabitants from the smalllest to the largest, some which have become extinct over the passing of time for reasons caused by man himself and as a group.
This brings us to the big picture view of Earth Mother as a whole. Many cultures, races and creeds comprise the inhabitants of Earth Mother. All have different upbringings and mores that constitute themselves as invidividual entities. However each entity brings with it a different aspect of the culture of Earth Mother as one unit, although it appears that we are still in the throes of discovery. Modern society will have this broken down into two distinct 'colors', that being black and white as if color of skin makes the final determination. It does not. If we were to distinguish Earth's inhabitants by color, what of those who are beige, tan, brown, yellow, red, pink ... the list goes on. Skin color is not the determining factor, but appears to be essential for those races of color to define themselves, unify as a race. This is an important step in looking at things from the 'big picture."
The big picture see us all as inhabitants of Earth Mother, but how can we, as a unified culture see each other as the same, if we do not first see eachother as individuals, such as the process of growth of that of a little child? We cannot. So, we first have to distinguish ourselves as individual races, creeds and so forth, to be able to then again, widen our perpsective to see ourselves as a whole.
Albert Einstein has said ... "A human being is a part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest of a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
Einstein has said it best .. in order to raise our consciousness as a whole, we must first see ourselves as individuals, then as an integral part of the whole. Seeing ourselves first as human, not as defined by color of skin or religious structured belief, is the first step to raising our consciousness as a group.
Carl Gustav Jung continues along this same vein ... "There is no coming to consciousness without pain." We are now in the throes of this pain as we begin to wake up to the realization that all truly are one and that we do not lose our individuality by accepting ourselves as a whole unit, rather than delineated parts of the whole. Our individuality actually flourishes in the face of unity.
Patanjali said ... "When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds. Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dominant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be."
And, Patanjali was definitely on the right track. Together, there is strength. As one, we have the greatest power to accomplish more than we can ever dream to accomplish as individuals --- we accomplish it as a whole. How blessed are we !
Remember that unconditional love truly does conquer all and that living in the light, in the now, is our best defense against negative thinking and delineation amongst the being-ness of the inhabitants of Earth Mother. We are one. Let's us end today's Lunar / Sun Day Sermon with this beautiful thought:
The extent of our consciousness is only limited by our ability to truly love and embrace with our love ALL that surrounds us and ALL that it contains, which is limitless on into the Universes of which we are a vital part.
Be blessed, All ...
Warmly,
Dolphyn
