I thought  it was a joke email.  We live in Florida where the mosquitoes bite all year long and grow as big as pterodactyls, so when I received an email from a buddy in Australia who usually sends me hilarious email ... I had to scoff!

BUT NOOOO !!  This was NO joke.  And this method really works!  Amazing.  Oh great Joy !  The bane of the Florida swamps now can be tamed without forty pints of DEET coursing through my body !

LISTERINE !

Believe me .. this is not a joke.  In fact, I tried a little experiment.  I bought a bottle of Listerine and a bottle of the less expensive, generic store brand.  Tried 'em both!  They both work, but .. maybe its me, the Listerine seemed to last longer.

O.K. ... here's what you do!

Pour the Listerine into a spray bottle. Set the spray nozzle on fine spray.  Spray your doorways, window screens, pet doors .... all entrances that open and close.  It lasts for days.  No joke. 

In fact, since I often go out on our property late at night to take photographs and usually get swarmed by flying 'things' .... I sprayed myself (!) before I went out.  Nothing .. not even a fly-by!  Of course, I smelled quite medicinal when I came back in the house.  I just didn't care ... I had not one mosquito bite on my exposed skin.

I haven't tried all the scented flavors of  Listerine, mind you, just the original, plain old, dentist-office, medicinal one.  And it worked!

You can spray around your outside porch or deck, even your flower beds ~ anywhere these flying piranha congregate ~ it didn't seem to harm plant life.  (But ... boy did it turn away those mosquitoes!)

I am SO looking forward to some outside time this year! DEET-free!  Cape San Blas, here I come!!  Woo hoooo !
